Frequently Asked Questions

.You will first start to notice a loss of volume in your cheeks, your brow, and your lips. This can be seen in your lips looking thinner and your cheeks descending lower from their previous position. The overall results can be a deflated or saggy look.

This can lead to:

  • Nasolabial folds (the folds from the corners of the nose to the mouth)

  • Labiomental folds (the folds just beneath the corners of the mouth)

  • Jowls ( the skin that sags beneath the jawline)

  • This loss of facial volume can cause skeletal features to become more prominent.

Each year that you age, your face loses fat, muscle and even bone (your eye sockets get larger). These are all crucial to keeping a youthful and full face. Without underlying tissue to keep your skin in place, you lose the suppleness in your face, which causes your skin to look fatigued.

The fat in your face starts to shrink, which leads to your cheeks and under-eyes looking hollow. There is less support for facial structure, as your bones begin to atrophy or shrink.

Most people will see some degree of volume loss as they age. However, you may experience more if you've seen a dramatic weight loss at any point. People suffering from (or recovering from) a major illness are more likely to experience volume loss.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are the best solution to facial volume loss. They are injected to "fill" any part of the face.

We offer two kinds: hyaluronic acid (Juvederm) and Sculptra.

There are 3 products in the Juvederm line: Volbella, Volift, and Voluma listed from thinnest to thickest. Voluma gives the longest duration of effect, about 18 months.*

Most procedures take about half an hour and the effects of dermal fillers can be seen immediately following the treatment. The duration of benefit depends on the substance used, the area injected, and the person injected, and can range from 9-18 months.*

Sculptra

In Sculptra treatments, poly-L-lactic acid is injected. This acid occurs naturally in the body and is what leads to muscles feel fatigued. This substance triggers collagen production, and this gives you a gradual filling effect.*

Treatments take around 30 minutes, and you usually need three monthly sessions. Effects will start to be visible at about two months with peak results four to six months. You can still enjoy its effects after 3-4 years.*
