Moles

Everyone has them. Nobody likes them.

Moles are very common and appear on people of all ages. They can show up anywhere from head to toe.

There are over-the-counter remedies available for moles. However, most are only somewhat effective.

Solutions to Moles*

CO2 Laser

This laser emits a very thin and very focused beam of infrared light to destroy the tissue at which it is aimed.

The depth of penetration of the powerful laser beam can be adjusted from about one cell layer to about a quarter of a millimeter. Unwanted skin lesions are strategically vaporized one thin layer at a time, with minimal damage to surrounding tissue. This is an incredibly precise procedure that gives you a low chance of scarring.*

You can often have the results you want in one treatment. For example, in an average 10-15 minute session, about 5 or 6 average-sized moles can be removed or dozens of small lesions can be removed.

The CO2 laser is very safe, with no risk of cancer what-so-ever. The wavelength of light used is in the infrared range. Infrared light does not cause cancer. This is at the opposite end of the spectrum from ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays which are all capable of causing cancer.

Local anesthetic is used for larger moles. Topical anesthetic can be applied before hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Basically moles are clusters of skin pigment cells. These cells would normally be spread throughout the body, but when they group together in larger numbers they form a mole.

As is the case with most skin issues, the odds of you being affected go up considerably as you spend time in the sun without protection.

Some people believe that all moles are cancerous, or a sign of cancer. This is not true. Most moles are completely harmless, although showing them to your family doctor or a dermatologist is always a good idea.

Other people believe that picking at a mole will make it grow or become cancerous. These are both untrue, but picking at a mole is not a good idea. You might invite an infection. Moles can be removed, but only by a trained professional.
