Stretch Marks
You love your children, but not the stretch marks the little darlings gave you.
Stretch marks occur when skin is stretched rapidly, overwhelming the skin's ability to recover. This leaves thin weak bands in which elastin fibers have been torn and are unable to provide elastic rebound. While pregnancy is the most common cause, any rapid change can cause it (eg. rapid weight gain, normal growth in teenagers, breast development, body-building).
There are several things that can be done to improve the appearance of your stretch marks.*
Micro-needling remodels skin, adding elastin and collagen. This results in reduction of the size of your stretch marks.* Treatments start with the application of a numbing cream for 20-30 minutes. Next a sterile solution specifically formulated to help stretch marks is applied. Then thousands of tiny needle punctures are made. These microscopic wounds trigger the body's healing response resulting in a significant improvement in your stretch marks.* Several sessions are required (3-6) depending on the severity of the problem. Generally treatments are very well tolerated.
Sometimes stretch marks have noticeable veins in them. These can be treated with laser and IPL the same way we treat facial veins and rosacea.*
Stretch marks are often accompanied by stretched skin. This can be tightened with radio frequency treatments using our Accent device.*
Laser skin resurfacing can also be helpful.* Typically this is used in more severe conditions.
Frequently, a combination of treatment modalities is needed to obtain optimal results.
Growth factors and retinol products can be helpful.*
Since everyone is different, the only way to find out which treatment or combination is right for you is to book a consultation with the doctor for expert advice.
