Exosomes

Exosomes are microscopic membrane-enclosed packets of biochemicals secreted by cells. The type of cell secreting the exosomes determines the molecular content of the packet. This can be anything from genetic material, fats, and proteins to growth factors and more. When other cells receive these packets they are activated to carry out a biologic process such as creating collagen.

In skin care, exosomes are used to deliver these beneficial molecules to skin cells, promoting regeneration and repair. They can reduce inflammation, trigger collagen and elastin production, improve hydration, reduce pigmentation, and enhance the barrier function of skin.

Applied topically, they can accelerate recovery after skin treatments such as laser skin resurfacing.

At York Laser and MedSpa exosomes are used in combination with microneedling. The tiny channels created during the treatment enhance penetration and effectiveness of the exosomes.
